About The Position

The Asset Protection Manager (APM) will lead Asset Protection activities for an assigned unit in accordance with company policies and procedures, aiming to drive sales and profits. This role involves developing the Asset Protection team, conducting internal and external investigations, and focusing on shrink and safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading Asset Protection activities.

  • Skills in interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
  • Proficiency in identifying and investigating theft and fraud.
  • Experience in documenting investigations and maintaining records.
  • Knowledge of Organized Retail Crime (ORC) and external fraud patterns.
  • Ability to build relationships with law enforcement and security partners.
  • Experience in reviewing various investigative and audit reports.
  • Skills in coaching and motivating teams on shrinkage reduction and safety.
  • Ability to audit departments for compliance with merchandise protection standards.

  • Experience in a retail environment.
  • Familiarity with Catalyst Brands' portfolio (JCPenney, Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Lucky Brand, Nautica).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental conversations with direct reports and maintain notes on strengths and opportunities.
  • Interview, hire, and train Asset Protection talent for the store, ensuring adherence to directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Coach associates in the moment to enhance their development and advise Store/District Leadership Teams on noted opportunities.
  • Proactively identify potential theft and fraud through observation, exception reports, and investigation referrals.
  • Interview associates suspected of theft or fraud according to company policies and document all stages.
  • Review and ensure all Asset Protection documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained per policy.
  • Communicate external theft trends to associates and partner with other locations/retailers to identify Organized Retail Crime (ORC) groups and patterns.
  • Gather evidence on ORC and external fraud under the direction of DAPM and/or Field Investigations.
  • Attend hearings as required and update files with court-related outcomes.
  • Create and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and mall security partners.
  • Review reports of external apprehensions, internal investigations, incident reports, PCI, PII, and Sales Audit documentation.
  • Tailor company Asset Protection direction to specific stores and create new methods to educate and motivate store teams on shrinkage reduction and safety.
  • Coach store associates on maintaining safe work areas and sales floors to prevent accidents.
  • Periodically audit departments for merchandise protection standard adherence.
  • Identify merchandise protection opportunities that deviate from company standards.
