About The Position

As a Bloomingdale’s Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Detective, you are responsible for protecting the assets and people of your location. Bloomingdale’s provides an Asset Protection/Loss Prevention training program to develop the knowledge and tools needed for the role and support growth in responsibility. Detectives use technology, analytics, and investigative skills while maintaining a high degree of professionalism in carrying out their duties within the store.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of related experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Resourcefulness and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must satisfy licensing requirements when required by state or local jurisdiction.
Experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and sustain long periods in enclosed surveillance areas.
Ability to occasionally reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome all customers while on the selling floor.
Identify, observe, and apprehend individuals committing theft by shoplifting.
Apply knowledge of state laws and statutes related to shoplifting and apprehensions.
Participate in the store shortage reduction program, including partnering with specific departments.
Maintain building safety and security, and open and close the building when appropriate.
