About The Position

The Asset Protection Associate, under the direction of his/ her Asset Protection Specialist, is responsible for the protection of the Company’s assets in his/her jurisdiction. This role involves monitoring the store for various types of theft, policy violations, and safety issues, as well as conducting investigations and training other associates. The associate must be knowledgeable in the use of CCTV equipment and data mining tools, and be able to perform their duties undetected by suspects.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of CCTV equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Zeus data mining tool.
  • Ability to monitor the store paging system.
  • Ability to use a two-way radio effectively.
  • Ability to question suspects and record their answers accurately.
  • Ability to monitor store cameras.
  • Must be mobile and able to monitor suspects throughout the sales floor.
  • Ability to perform work undetected by suspected shoplifters.
  • Ability to review the contents of trailers that pull up to the loading dock.
  • Ability to check on various alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow proper timecard procedures and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Complete travel expenses and attach timecard to verify travel.
  • Follow scheduled hours, with any changes approved by the Asset Protection Manager.
  • Monitor the store for customer and associate apprehensions.
  • Survey the store for apprehension of shoplifters.
  • Apprehend and detain shoplifters, dishonest associates, and/or vendors.
  • Conduct interviews related to incidents of theft.
  • Complete all apprehension records and reports.
  • Submit requests for additional data to complete investigations of suspected loss, fraud, theft, or dishonesty.
  • Represent the Company in court as necessary.
  • Complete HIPPA certification.
  • Monitor the front end and service desk for policy violations.
  • Observe cashier performance for adherence to procedures and inform the Store Manager of any violations.
  • Provide counterfeit detection training to front-end associates and monitor usage of counterfeit detection units.
  • Monitor transactions for collusions, monetary theft, and coupon theft.
  • Evaluate cashier over/shorts for potential cashier issues in conjunction with Lane Accountability.
  • Review refund reports and alerts to identify patterns of loss for further investigation.
  • Monitor associate and vendor purchase procedures and receipt checks.
  • Spot check store transfers, returns to vendors, and receiving.
  • Report OSHA safety violations to the Store Manager.
  • Participate in safety and accident prevention meetings for associates.
  • Complete Compactor Audits.
  • Inspect the interior/exterior of the building for physical security issues.
  • Conduct spot checks of perimeter/6 p.m. perimeter alarm systems.
  • Tour the perimeter of the store daily, checking exits, alarms, storage trailers, and areas where merchandise could be concealed.
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic locker checks with another member of management.
  • Conduct random parcel/purchase checks at the direction of the Asset Protection Manager.
  • Conduct tests of the emergency exit door to ensure local and burglar alarm functionality.
  • Train existing and new Asset Protection Associates as assigned.
  • Meet with the Store Manager and Asset Protection Manager on a regular basis to report store compliance with safety and security standards.
  • Provide continuing training of Store Operations with Store Associates on request.
  • Complete the Asset Protection Refocus program and drive results to reduce shrink and improve compliance to AP initiatives.
  • Operate CCTV equipment.
  • Utilize the Zeus data mining tool.
  • Monitor the store paging system.
