The Asset Protection Associate is responsible for observing activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity, collecting investigative evidence using CCTV and observations from the sales floor. This role follows AP Directives and Company policy when making apprehensions and executes required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft, properly documenting all stages. The associate conducts external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft, reports suspected fraud and policy infractions, and creates/manages records for apprehensions, witness statements, evidence retention, and merchandise disposition. They may also collect evidence and monitor associate activity for internal investigations or serve as an interview witness, proactively identify potential theft and fraud, investigate suspicious behavior, attend court hearings, and analyze intelligence on theft perpetrators. Additionally, the role supports a safety culture by communicating shrinkage and safety topics, identifying and correcting hazards, providing emergency response, assisting with incident investigations, and coaching associates on maintaining safe work areas. The associate must consistently meet established performance standards for service, productivity, and attendance.
