About The Position

This role involves performing various ground-based pruning activities, including gathering and removing litter. Responsibilities may extend to operating vehicles and powered equipment, watering plants, pruning trees and shrubs, and general lawn care such as mulching, aerating, weeding, and trimming. The job also includes planting seeds, bulbs, foliage, and flowers, as well as maintaining and repairing irrigation systems. All worksite locations are within driving distance of the primary worksite, and daily transportation is provided from the primary worksite to all additional worksite locations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform all pruning activities on the ground.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
  • Must be able to operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
  • Must be able to water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinklers systems, hoses, or watering cans.
  • Must be able to prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
  • Must be able to care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
  • Must be able to follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
  • Must be able to trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
  • Must be able to attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
  • Must be able to plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
  • Must be able to mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
  • Must be able to rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
  • Must be able to decorate gardens and stones or plants.
  • Must be able to adjust irrigation water consumption to prevent waste, using hand held battery operated dial.
  • Must be able to maintain/repair irrigation systems made of plastic tubing, using hand held tools such as hammer and wrench, winterize systems in late fall and initiate systems in spring by manually programming the dial.

  • H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek, all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
  • Transportation (including meals and lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost reimbursed, if the worker completes half of the employment period or if, after deducting the total cost owed to the worker in the first workweek, the worker does not earn enough to make the federal minimum hourly wage.
  • Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer.
  • The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved.
  • Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.78 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
