The Asset Protection Agent helps keep customers, employees, and brands safe; protects company profits by mitigating shrinkage; and helps ensure merchandise is available to customers. The role works with the store Emergency Response Team (ERT) to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. Asset Protection work is guided by three pillars: protecting people, protecting physical spaces and merchandise, and supporting product accuracy through store partnership and improved inventory accuracy. The agent identifies and resolves theft, supports internal theft investigations, monitors activity through video and surveillance systems, and uses RFID data to investigate merchandise movement and inventory inaccuracies. The role also responds to and reports security, safety, and emergency incidents; supports store security audits, meetings, awareness, and training; participates in emergency response training, including First Aid; and prepares reports on incidents and investigations. The agent may testify in court and builds partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement. The position requires sound judgment and accountability in a fast-paced environment, clear communication, confidentiality, composure when handling safety issues and aggressive behavior, initiative, and flexibility to meet business needs. A valid security license is required in Washington, DC; Denver, Colorado; New York City, New York; St. Louis, Missouri; and Oregon. State and local licensing requirements may also apply. Investigative, asset protection, and security-procedure experience is preferred.
