Base Power CompanyAustin, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Base is America’s next-generation power company, focused on transforming the electricity grid with a network of distributed batteries. The Asset Management role is crucial for establishing and managing the operating system for Base's structured-finance vehicles, ensuring a repeatable and audit-ready process as the company scales. This position will own every fund vehicle from inception through its lifecycle, encompassing accounting, distributions, waterfalls, LP reporting, and audit response. Initially, this role will also encompass treasury operations, including bank architecture, cash forecasting, wire controls, and short-duration cash strategy. The individual in this role will build the foundational infrastructure for both asset management and treasury functions, which will eventually separate into distinct roles.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years in tax equity, asset management, fund administration, or project finance at a developer, sponsor, fund admin, or bank.
  • Experience building or running a fund vehicle from the inside, including establishing the structure, designing reporting, and writing SOPs that have passed audits.
  • Fluency with tax equity partnership economics (HLBV, IRR flips, ITC/PTC mechanics) and the ability to explain waterfall calculations clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of reporting, reconciliation, controls, and audit-readiness.
  • Experience with debt facility mechanics (draws, paydowns, reserve and escrow accounts).
  • Sufficient treasury exposure to establish bank architecture, select a TMS, and define cash movement policies.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Comfort with NetSuite and BigQuery.
  • A proactive approach to using AI and automation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with institutional investors, lenders, and senior leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • The role may expand or change based on business needs, as Base is a startup.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of every fund vehicle, including formation, monthly funds flow, asset tranching into tax equity, draw requests on back-leverage, waterfalls, and distributions.
  • Manage relationships with capital providers post-closing, including tax equity investors, back-leverage lenders, and fund auditors.
  • Lead all investor reporting and audit response, including capital account statements, audited financials, K-1s, and draft tax returns.
  • Own reconciliation between fund-level and corporate accounting.
  • Maintain fund-level and portfolio models with asset-level granularity, serving as the source of truth for fund performance, balance, and composition.
  • Own treasury operations until a dedicated Treasurer is needed, including bank architecture, 13-week cash forecasting, wire controls, short-duration investment of excess cash, and FX/rate risk management.
  • Build the necessary infrastructure from scratch, including systems, workflows, SOPs, and AI-leveraged automations to enable scalable operations without increasing headcount.
