About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Grid Corrective Services, the Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The incumbent is responsible for leading the development, management, and continuous improvement of processes and systems that are cross-functional. The Asset Investment Analyst will lead and/or support initiatives in relation to Grid Corrective Services function, strategic initiatives, analytics used to address various engineering initiatives and draw insights that drive decisions. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred), Data Science & Analytics, or a related field
  • Three (3)–Five (5) years of experience in data analysis, gap analysis, business process redesign, and analysis for business projects, including identifying areas for improvement and developing new initiatives.
  • Experience with data analysis and data mining techniques to address and resolve gaps in data
  • Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, business process, and productivity improvements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fully proficient in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Access, Project and Visio
  • Builds strong relationships and manages stakeholders across the organization in order to enable effective delivery of projects
  • Strong negotiating/relationship-building ability
  • Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Customer focused
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation and regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python/R, Alteryx, and Tableau (preferably in a utility environment) is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ML/AI concepts such as Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning models with a demonstrated project or prior work experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset
  • Specific Knowledge in power systems, electrical distribution, and computer applications is an asset
  • Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and can visualize opportunities for change in support of continuous process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support the intake, assessment, and processing of work requests received through multiple channels to enable effective day-to-day planning, work issuance, and management of corrective maintenance and reactive capital programs.
  • Leverage advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence techniques (e.g., natural language processing, neural networks, regression models) to prioritize work requests, identify trends, and predict maintenance needs, improving overall efficiency and decision-making.
  • Lead the integration and application of AI and machine learning tools to automate routine processes, enhance data analysis, and generate actionable insights that support business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in Corrective Maintenance and Reactive Capital planning, providing guidance on work programs, data management practices, and information governance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective work issuance that considers system requirements, reliability targets, resource availability, and budget constraints.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of workflows, processes, and analytical models (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive) to enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of Grid Corrective Services.
  • Design and deliver reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs to support both operational execution and strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions using cost-benefit analysis, operational constraints, safety considerations, industry standards, and engineering principles, and recommend optimal courses of action.
  • Provide timely analytical support and consultation, demonstrating strong project management capabilities; develop and present business cases, plans, operational processes, and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align on data requirements, standards, and deliverables, ensuring consistency and quality across systems and processes.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and tact in resolving complex issues that arise up, down, and across the organization and builds strong relationships with cross-functional teams
