It is the responsibility of the Asset Based Lending Relationship Manager/Underwriter V to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position and provide superior client service.

Requirements

  • B.A. Degree Required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending is required
  • Great interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Asset-based or secured lending experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screening and underwriting complex bilateral or syndicated relationships primarily for customers with asset-based credit facilities of $10.0 million and above.
  • Directing the relationship management activities to ensure satisfactory results in risk management, customer retention and revenue growth post-closing.
  • Assisting the Origination team in preparation of screening memos, working with the Credit team to get required approvals to issue term sheets, and helping the origination team in drafting term sheets.
  • Coordinating field examination and appraisal(s) upon engagement by client, completing financial and collateral due diligence, and presenting the results to the Credit chain for approval.
  • Coordinating with the Origination team to negotiate and document the loan and security agreement.
  • Working with Operations/Customer Relationship and Treasury Management teams in the setup and implementation of deposit accounts and treasury management products during client onboarding.
  • Monitoring and analyzing operating/financial performance and collateral trends using financial statements, field exams, and appraisals to determine creditworthiness and appropriate risk ratings post-closing.
  • Reporting results to Credit and senior management of the department for continuous credit monitoring on a timely basis.
  • Ensuring all products and services provided to the client are in compliance with SSB policy and guidelines and state and federal regulations.
  • Leading renewal and restructuring of credit facilities for existing clients and working with the Credit team to get required approvals.
  • Providing holistic financial solutions and deepening share of wallet by partnering with other lines of business and product specialists (including but not limited to Treasury Management, Capital Markets and Wealth) and delivering the entire product set of South State Bank.
  • Mentoring analysts/associates/junior relationship managers in credit analysis, legal documentation, and relationship management.
