About The Position

We are seeking an Assessor who is good with people, can build rapport quickly, and is a clear communicator skilled at drawing information out of others. The ideal candidate is analytical, thoughtful, and decisive, able to weigh facts and come to a conclusion. This role requires collaboration within a team, sharing knowledge, and seeking help when needed, while also being self-motivated and organized to work independently. The Assessor will find value in knowing their work makes a difference in people's lives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field. OR A bachelor’s degree in any field and at least one (1) year of human services related experience. OR An associate’s degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field and two (2) years of human services related experience. OR Three (3) years of human services related experience.
  • Commitment to self-determination and personalized support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the intellectual/developmental disabilities field and of family dynamics.
  • Able to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Able to develop trust and rapport through in-person meetings and contacts with customers, staff and stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, families, service providers and the general public.
  • Able to remain calm when clients become anxious or experience challenging behavior.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Able and willing to work evening or weekend hours, as needed.
  • Able to work under stress and able to multitask.
  • Able to manage time independently and work without direct supervision.
  • Able to pass a Criminal History Check, meeting the State’s requirements.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintenance of a good driving record.
  • Must be able to frequently drive personal vehicle for extensive local and in-state travel, as well as occasional out of state travel.
  • Able to lift 10 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience completing assessments.
  • Working knowledge and ability to perform basic word processing tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Completes all assessments using the state’s chosen tool
  • Completes face-to-face observations as part of the assessment process
  • Works with Personal Agents and Lead Personal Agents to ensure all assessments are completed timely
  • Documents all work in agency and state databases
  • Is responsible for following the complaint process for all complaints related to assessments
