About The Position

Mercy Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an Assessment Specialist, RN or LSW, to join their team. This full-time, night shift position offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus. The hospital is a joint venture between Lifepoint Health and Mercy Health, committed to providing exceptional patient care and prioritizing employee well-being. The Assessment Specialist will facilitate the response to service requests, including initial response, assessment, referral, determining the level of care, admission, and follow-up. They will conduct initial evaluations, document patient status, and provide information for LOC determination. The role requires excellent customer service, knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and EMTALA, and accurate completion of preadmission/admission paperwork and pre-certifications.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or social work
  • Active RN or LSW licensure
  • Previous experience in behavioral health hospital highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
