About The Position

Mesa Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an Assessment Specialist to join their team. This role is vital in facilitating the response to service requests, including initial response, assessment, referral, determining the appropriate level of care, admission, and follow-up. The specialist will conduct initial evaluations, document patient needs, and provide information for LOC determination. Excellent customer service skills are essential for interacting with patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers. The role also requires knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork, processes, and EMTALA, as well as maintaining accurate pre-admission and admission paperwork and completing pre-certifications with insurance companies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or counseling or an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred.
  • Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
  • Current clinical, social work or RN license as required by state regulations
  • CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain with 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy, and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
