About The Position

Sycamore Springs is seeking an Assessment Specialist/Intake Specialist, RN to join their team. This role is crucial in facilitating the response to requests for services, including initial response, assessment, referral, determining the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and follow-up activities. The Assessment Specialist will conduct initial evaluations, initiate assessments, document patient symptoms, functioning, and needs, and provide information to the MD for Level of Care determination. Excellent customer service skills are essential for assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers. The role also requires knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork, processes, and EMTALA, as well as maintaining accurate preadmission and admission paperwork and completing precertification with insurance companies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Master's degree in social work or counseling (required).
  • CPR and De-escalation certification is required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
  • Current unencumbered RN, clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and adolescent patients preferred.

  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all precertification with insurance companies.
