About The Position

Collin Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an Assessment Specialist to join their Behavioral Health hospital team in McKinney, TX. This role is vital in facilitating the response to service requests, including initial response, assessment, referral, determining the appropriate level of care, admission, and follow-up. The specialist will conduct initial evaluations, document patient needs, and provide information for medical director determinations. Excellent customer service, knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork, processes, and EMTALA are essential. Accurate maintenance of pre-admission and admission paperwork, along with pre-certification with insurance companies, is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required) or a Master’s degree in Social Work/Counseling (required)
  • Current clinical, social work or RN license as required by state regulations
  • CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Must have strong clinical assessment skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, and referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow up activity
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs and provides information to MD for LOC determination
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy, and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies with insurance companies
