About The Position

Mercy Behavioral Health Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Mercy Health, is seeking an Assessment Specialist for Behavioral Health. This role is crucial in facilitating the response to service requests, from initial contact through admission and follow-up. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or social work
  • Active RN or LSW licensure

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in behavioral health hospital highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
  • Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
  • Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
  • Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
