Requirements

Associate's Degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling required.
Current clinical, social work, or RN license as required by state regulations.
CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Strong clinical assessment skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

Perform the evaluation and admission process in conjunction with the on-call physician.
Assist the director of assessment in directing all department activities and monitoring the quality of services provided.
Facilitate response to requests for services, including the initial response, the assessment and referral process, the designation of appropriate level of care, admission into services and appropriate follow up activity.
Conduct initial evaluations, initiate the assessment, document patient symptomology, functioning, needs and provide information to MD for LOC determination.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors and coworkers in a prompt and courteous manner.
Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
Maintain all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy, complete all pre-certification with insurance companies.
Ensure appropriate staffing for shift.
Minimize use of overtime.
Assist in monitoring attendance.
Educate and coach staff and act as a point person for clinical decisions.
Report all issues and incidents to the Director of appropriately.
Ensure staff has completed all needed documentation, call logging, insurance calls, and additional tasks prior to the end of shift.
