Our Stroudsburg outpatient program is seeking a compassionate and skilled Assessment Counselor to join our clinical team. This role is critical in supporting client access to care through comprehensive assessments, intake coordination, and early engagement in treatment services. You will play a key role in evaluating client needs, determining appropriate levels of care, and ensuring a smooth and supportive admission process into outpatient services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Chemical Dependency, or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least one (1) year of clinical experience OR Active CADC, CAADC, or equivalent licensure/certification
  • Candidates selected for hire must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any required state‑mandated clearances. Employment is contingent upon meeting all screening requirements in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting‑body regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial screenings and level-of-care assessments using clinical judgment
  • Evaluate clients’ behavioral, emotional, cognitive, social, and recovery needs
  • Collect and document comprehensive demographic and clinical history
  • Complete insurance pre-certifications and authorizations (as applicable)
  • Coordinate and facilitate the intake and admissions process
  • Determine appropriate level of care and provide referrals when needed
  • Complete all required assessment, admission, and ROI documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and compliant clinical records
  • Provide brief individual counseling to support engagement in treatment
  • Develop initial treatment plans and provide case management support
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide program coverage and support operational needs as required
  • Complete required trainings and perform additional duties as assigned
