About The Position

The incumbent will liaise with course faculty and program staff at all sites in the distributed Undergraduate Medical Program (UGME) to support the development and implementation of student assessments in addition to the grading, analysis and reporting of student assessments. The programmatic assessment platform includes the key pillars of work-based assessments, OSCEs, Written MCQ tests, including progress testing and portfolios. They will assist in implementing new methods of assessment and assessment tools. The incumbent will be responsible for the precise processing and timely reporting of the results of the assessments. They will participate in assessment-related projects and the maintenance of the databases. The incumbent will use high security, technology-enabled processes to ensure the security of the data requiring protection. They will develop sufficient expertise to support the team during high peak demand cycles or in the event of absences.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with survey design, analysis and delivery of results preferred.
  • Experience with in item and examination development, educational testing and measurement preferred.
  • Experience with statistical-analysis packages and database concepts are an asset.
  • Experience with statistical-analysis packages e.g. SPSS, R etc. and database concepts is an asset.
  • Ability to learn new software and assessment-related programs.
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) at an intermediate level.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Faculty with the selection and development of high-quality assessment materials and the planning of student assessment materials and formative assessment
  • Assist Faculty in blueprinting and matching the different assessment tools to the curricular leaning objectives and competencies
  • With faculty guidance create examination materials while ensuring complete accuracy of all examination materials
  • Score written exams and OSCE, perform item analysis, and compile student performance report for Faculty
  • Guide faculty in their scoring decisions through standard-setting meetings and item statistics review meetings
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on Workplace Based Assessments
  • Prepare the necessary statistical reports for the Student Promotions Committee
  • Prepare Individual Score Reports communicating students’ performance on assessments
  • Participate in all areas of assessment, especially during high workload periods
  • Co-manage the examination item bank and documentation supporting examinations development, including item tagging with the agreed upon descriptors, acknowledging the contributions of individual faculty members to the item bank, and mining the overall bank for items that can be used in relevant assessment per request by the Faculty
  • Oversee the delivery of remedial and supplemental exams in accordance with UBC Senate Policy
  • Participate in Unit’s work on continuous improvement of program assessment
  • Participate in curriculum development committees to provide assessment perspective
  • May serve on appropriate program committees
  • Complete other assessment-related projects as required
  • Serve as an examination invigilator
