About The Position

The Assessment Clinician provides telephonic, telehealth, and in-person risk assessments, including the history of presenting illness, suicide risks, family dynamics, and supporting psychosocial information. The Assessment Clinician has initial contact with referral sources and potential patients. The Assessment Clinician coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Follows and abides by company policies, procedures, and Corporate Compliance Program, as applicable to role and responsibilities. Job Duties Include: Performing initial clinical assessments to determine level of care. Coordination and disposition of all referral calls to appropriate level of care. Completion of all admission with psychiatrists and nursing staff. Completing pre-certification information and forwarding to appropriate agencies, in conjunction with Business Office and Utilization Review.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Human Services field.
  • At least two years of crisis experience.
  • Current RN License, if applicable.
  • Eligible for supervision if not independently licensed.
  • Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
  • Three years’ experience and knowledge in the area of mental health.
  • Knowledge of hospital admissions functions.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and symptomology.
  • Knowledge of basic chemical dependency.
  • Knowledge of age-specific growth and development.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • LCSW/LPCC/LMFT preferred.
