Assembly Technician - 2nd Shift
About The Position
The Assembly Technician performs required assemblies and installations on transit buses while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The role works on a production line in a specified work area and follows assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, parts lists, process sheets, and written instructions. Work includes gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials; building to specifications; and ensuring the quality and consistency of installations and assemblies. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Overtime is often required to meet production schedules and would likely be on Friday. On-the-job training is provided in a continuous learning environment.
Requirements
- Ability to work from blueprints, process sheets, and written instructions.
- Ability to use measurement tools and equipment and perform basic math and intermediate measurements.
- Working knowledge of hand and air tools; ability to use small hand and power tools repetitively.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work as a team player and self-starter in a team setting.
- Good communication skills, ability to work with little supervision, and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb up and down, work using a ladder, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform installations and assemblies within an assigned production-line work area.
- Review assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gather required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Build to specifications using blueprints, process sheets, written instructions, measurement tools, and basic math skills.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of installations and assemblies.
- Keep the workstation clean and in safe working condition.
- Attend work and perform assigned duties, including overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
