About The Position

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, fitting, and modifying components used in the manufacture of medium- and high-voltage indoor and outdoor equipment, including assemblies, breaker and auxiliary compartments, breakers, power modules, customer service orders, and related sub-assemblies. This role involves working from manufacturing documentation, electrical and mechanical drawings, sketches, established procedures, and written or verbal instructions. The technician will mount and install electrical equipment, perform wiring operations, and complete necessary documentation such as ISO checklists, quality and customer checklists, and feedback forms. A key aspect of the role is the regular lifting, handling, and assembly of heavy components in a safe manner, maintaining Kanban inventory levels, and inspecting assemblies for quality and cleanliness. The position also requires responding to engineering change notices, customer modifications, and supporting product development initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Skilled in the safe and efficient use of hand tools and pneumatic (air) tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, persuasive abilities, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, step ladders, and cranes to assemble products and verify quality in a Lean environment.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications (Microsoft Outlook and Teams) and job‑specific systems such as ENOVIA.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands for handling and feeling.
  • Frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 50 lbs. or more with or without accommodation.
  • Vision requirements include near and far vision, depth perception, and color discrimination.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of industrial manufacturing experience
  • South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) or equivalent
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, fit, and modify complex electrical and mechanical assemblies exceeding standard complexity levels.
  • Work from manufacturing documentation, electrical and mechanical drawings, sketches, established procedures, and written or verbal instructions from engineering or supervision.
  • Mount and install electrical equipment and perform required wiring operations.
  • Complete ISO checklists, quality and customer checklists, feedback forms, and production documentation as required by supervision, engineering, drafting, and customer service.
  • Regularly lift, handle, and assemble heavy components in a safe manner.
  • Maintain minimum Kanban inventory levels and report material shortages to appropriate personnel.
  • Inspect assemblies for cleanliness, proper hardware installation, and overall workmanship.
  • Respond to engineering change notices, customer-requested modifications, and product development requirements.
  • Support engineering, drafting, and supervision with customer-driven development and improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
