About The Position

Swift Engineering Inc is seeking an Assembly Technician to work closely with engineers, program managers, and other manufacturing team members to assemble composite and metallic products and vehicles. The role involves applying advanced technical skills to assemble metallic and composite components to aircraft structure, including tasks such as hand trimming, drilling, bond prepping, bonding, installation of aerospace fasteners and rivets, and composite repair. The technician will also be responsible for installing hardware, performing in-process quality control, and developing custom tooling and fixtures for prototype products.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1-3 Years of experience in an Assembly Technician role
Personal experience using various hand tools associated with assembly work.
Drilling Techniques – both free-hand and with drill fixture
Trimming Techniques – both free-hand and with routing fixture
Measuring – use of precision measuring devices such as calipers, gages, indicators, micrometers, etc.
Personal experience working with aerospace fasteners, which includes proper sizing and torque application and verification of installation.
Personal experience working with aerospace adhesives and resins, which include bond prepping, adhesive mixing, dry fitting, liquid-shimming, wet-bonding with fasteners and/or cleco’s, adhesive application
Knowledge and experience working with advanced composite materials such as prepreg epoxy resins with carbon, fiberglass, and aramid.
Knowledge and experience working with adhesives, sealers, resins, bonding jigs, trim & drill fixtures, and oven curing.
Knowledge and experience doing body work on irregular surfaces, including using filler materials, scuff sanding, applying primer and touch up paint as required.
Strong mechanical aptitude in mechanical assemblies.
Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner.
Candidates must be US Person for compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)

Nice To Haves

Experience in reading and interpreting work instructions, specifications sketches, job travelers, planning documents and engineering drawings.
Experience with running industrial ovens, use pneumatic tools for trimming, drilling and bonding of hardware, use of technical devices for measurements.

Responsibilities

Apply advanced technical skills and knowledge to assemble metallic and composite components to aircraft structure.
Perform hand trimming, drilling, bond prepping, bonding, installation of aerospace fasteners and rivets, and composite repair.
Install hardware and perform in-process quality control, including using torque wrenches and specialty fasteners.
Develop and assemble custom tooling/fixture required to ensure proper assembly tasks for prototype products.
Work with other people in cooperation and as a good team member.
Take responsibility for workmanship and productivity.
Read and interpret work instructions, specifications sketches, job travelers, planning documents and engineering drawings.
Apply trained procedures and collaborative solutions to meet work requirements under standard supervision.
