About The Position

The role of Assembly Technician III utilizes a moderate level of skill to assemble intricate optical-mechanical and optical-electronic assemblies using high precision instruments and alignment software.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Optics / Opto-mechanical/Opto-Electronic Assembly.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to read/write in English.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with all team members in the department and the company-wide.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use alignment station and software to assemble complete systems with precision decenters and TIR’s.
  • Ability to perform repeatable precision measurements using height stand and drop indicator for elements and air spaces.
  • Ability to cement doublets and triplets using Opti-Alignment station and Trioptics Cementing Station.
  • Interpret complex BOM hierarchy.
  • Splice fiber and route intricate cable.
  • Mark-up drawings to document drawing errors or key changes in process and submit to manager for Engineering Change.
  • Ability to assess that elements being installed meet drawing specifications for surface quality per mil-spec and ISO standards.
  • Recognize and recommend the need to make/modify tooling or fixtures to improve accuracy or efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of complex optical-mechanical and optical-electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledgeable on reading complex optical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Voice improvements and issues affecting productivity of the team (rework, supplies, equipment, etc).
  • Assist other assembly technicians with jobs in process on technical issues.
  • Experience use of Excel to record data into build sheets for engineering recomp, or other data recordings.
