About The Position

The Assembly Tech is responsible for assembling custom products according to blueprints, work orders, and company quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Proper use of measurement tools, including tape measures, is critical to ensuring accurate assembly and high-quality finished products.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a related field (HVAC experience preferred but not required).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
  • Proficiency in using tape measures, calipers, and other measurement tools.
  • Ability to accurately read fractions, decimals, and metric measurements.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including drills, torque wrenches, and riveters.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom components, subassemblies, and full units according to technical drawings and work orders.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and fasteners to secure components properly.
  • Accurately measure and mark materials using a tape measure to ensure precision cuts and assembly alignment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Inspect parts before assembly to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Ensure all completed assemblies meet dimensional tolerances and functional requirements.
  • Read and interpret fractions and decimals accurately.
  • Ensure proper tape measure handling by fully extending and locking it in place when taking measurements.
  • Avoid measurement errors by keeping the tape measure straight and level, preventing bends or slack.
  • Regularly verify tape measure accuracy and report any damaged or worn-out tools for replacement.
  • Double-check critical measurements before cutting or drilling to prevent material waste and rework.
  • Perform visual inspections and function tests to verify product quality.
  • Identify and report any defects, missing parts, or assembly issues.
  • Work with supervisors and engineers to improve assembly techniques and reduce errors.
  • Accurately and consistently use the company's ERP system to document work time, inventory usage, job progress, and any other required information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a 98%+ first-pass yield rate (minimal rework required).
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including proper PPE usage and machine operation protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents.
  • Perform routine maintenance on assembly tools and report any malfunctions.
  • Work closely with welders, electricians, and fabricators to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Communicate with supervisors to resolve production issues and meet deadlines.
  • Assist in cross-training team members to improve production flexibility.
