About The Position

The Assembly Team Leader will direct and lead a team of associates engaged in the set-up and build, finish testing, paint and shipping operations for the corrugated finishing machinery. This role requires a strong partnership with support teams such as engineering, supply chain, machine shop, quality, and field service to address opportunities impacting assembly lines, quality, cost, and customer delivery. The candidate must have a solid understanding of manufacturing and the importance of communication to both internal and external customers. The leader is expected to develop and coordinate a schedule that meets the deadlines of both internal and external customers and communicate this plan to his team to ensure scheduling requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience or a BS degree and 5 years of experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interface and communicate professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership skills to build a strong team and knowledgeable workforce.
  • Ability to mentor associates in personal and company growth while strengthening team cohesiveness through team building.
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving approaches to provide solutions for complex process, equipment, and manufacturing issues.
  • Champion utilization of Lean tools and Lean culture in manufacturing, initiating and driving systemic improvement activities including standardization of processes, reporting functions, and associate growth plans.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner and meet demanding requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and MRP Systems.
  • Strong understanding of operational requirements from third-party industry standards, such as OSHA, UL, & CE.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage daily and ongoing assembly activities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for assembly issues post-production release.
  • Lead a team of mechanical and electrical assemblers, painters, electrical test technicians, and shipping personnel.
  • Direct and lead a team of associates engaged in the set-up and build, finish testing, paint, and shipping operations for the corrugated finishing machinery.
  • Develop assembly standards and processes based on improvement opportunities or quality/cost concerns.
  • Provide support for operations in safety, quality, performance, and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Proactively engage assembly teams to eliminate trending issues and concerns affecting the customer.
  • Analyze current state processes for internal and external customer support and develop plans to address areas of need.
  • Coordinate and direct projects to support improvement activities.
  • Support field issues and assist in leading root-cause problem identification and assembly countermeasures to ensure quality or process opportunities are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement through Lean principles by assisting with development and coaching of associates and team leaders.
