About The Position

The Assembly Team Lead will oversee all assembly production and oversight of all assigned employee tasks while complying with all safety, quality, construction, production, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • BILINGUAL (English to Spanish)
  • 5 years of experience in a shop floor manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years of process improvement / Lean continuous improvement exposure / 2 years of some leadership responsibility
  • High School Graduate (or equivalent)
  • Requires overall knowledge of equipment and production processes.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Woodworking / finish carpentry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace.
  • Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting near misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards.
  • Wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Follow 5S practices – Sort, Shine, Standardize, Set-in-Order, Sustain
  • Review the shipping plan to ensure all products due to ship are completed in assembly. And have any orders shipping tomorrow, are completed at least the day before shipping.
  • Review the production schedule proactively; ensuring all assembly team members are running production to Daily Operator Schedule.
  • Discuss daily production plan with assembly team to ensure the plan for assembly is understood and followed to complete all orders on time and in an efficient manner.
  • Supervises work of assigned employee group to ensure production schedules are met daily. Complete “Today’s work Today”.
  • Monitor progress through the day and move associates as needed to meet the daily production plan.
  • Plan all “Replacement Orders” and “Pre-productions Orders” to start at the beginning of each shift to ensure they are completed on schedule.
  • Work with the machine group Team Lead to ensure all wood parts are cut, edged, and drilled and ready for assembly the day before assembly production starts.
  • Validates accuracy and availability of needed materials. Contact materials group for any missing assembly materials.
  • Coordinates activities with production, procurement, engineering, maintenance, warehouse, and quality departments to achieve and sustain results.
  • Sets, communicates, and maintains quality expectations of finished goods production.
  • On custom designed cabinets, compare finished products to design drawings and customer orders descriptions prior to packaging.
  • If specials do not match either the drawing or description, engage engineering / PM group to resolve discrepancies.
  • Issue any “Rework” to the machine group following rework process and repair any deficiencies.
  • Package and document the hardware for orders following the hardware packing process including photo document of hardware list and packed hardware.
  • Responsible for ensuring finished goods are completed properly and meet quality standards before tagging and scanning as complete.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all assembly processes and equipment.
  • Communicates issues or concerns with Production Manager, Engineering Manager and Supply Chain as needed.
  • Meet with production team to ensure each team member knows what they are to work on now and the next item to be processed once complete.
  • Move team members to the appropriate areas to balance flow to meet the schedule.
  • Utilize KPI boards to track production completion and efficiency, including notes of gaps to the target production levels.
  • Utilize unplanned downtime to improve the 5S of the areas.
  • Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives related to workflow, 5S and overall shop efficiency.
  • Cross train employees to ensure balanced team skillsets. Work with Production Manager to identify gaps in skills.
  • Work with Machine Supervisor daily on what team members need “shared” across departments to accommodate the daily schedule.
  • Foster employee engagement for a healthy, positive, team-based environment.
  • Supports other team members by maintaining a visible presence on the production floor.
  • Maintains an engaged and team-oriented workforce.
  • Trains new team members.
  • Communicate performance issue of employees to Production Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Production Manager.
