About The Position

Mercedes-Benz Vans is hiring an Assembly Quality Gate Inspector to conduct in-process quality inspections of vans, identify vehicle defects, and enter inspection results into the appropriate computer systems. The role communicates quality issues to production personnel to support awareness and effective resolution. The inspector reads checklist inspection points, locates areas to inspect, evaluates defects using the Van Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scale, and completes inspections within established takt time. Requirements

• Two to three years of manufacturing process experience.
• Basic computer, writing, and language skills, including the ability to enter data into a computer unassisted.
• Knowledge of quality inspection methods.
• Ability to work in teams.
• People and persuasion skills.
• Assertiveness in difficult situations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work the second shift.

Nice To Haves

• Inspection experience preferred.
• Use of MS Office required.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend checklist inspection points and locate the targeted areas for inspection.
• Identify, evaluate, and determine defect severity using the Van Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scale.
• Conduct required inspections within established takt time.
• Enter defects into QSYS and on FBK.
• Clear defects properly in QSYS and on the FBK.
• Inspect FBKs for conformance to stamping requirements.
• Identify the process owner for a defect and communicate with them.
• Verify correction of defects when they are corrected in-station.
• Determine the next process step for vehicles with defects (light tunnel/EOL only).
• Communicate quality issues to production personnel to promote awareness and effective resolution.
