This role involves engineering, launching, and troubleshooting automated assembly and high-performance bonding equipment. The engineer will work with industrial robots, automated polyurethane adhesive dispensing systems, high frequency ultrasonic welding systems, laser cutting systems, automated inspection and vision systems, and fastening/assembly tools. They will also manage PLCs to control the sequence of operations for high-volume production of painted plastic automotive exterior components such as liftgates, bumpers, rocker panels, and grilles for original OEMs. A key responsibility is to develop and standardize bonding and assembly processes using 2K adhesives, and validate surface treatment technologies like flaming and priming to ensure superior adhesion on low-surface-energy substrates.
