About The Position

This role involves following engineering specifications, standard work, and customer requirements to clean and prepare wax parts prior to assembly. The operator will assemble wax patterns, gating, sprues, and other components of a wax mold or cluster. The position requires maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area, and performing all essential duties of the wax patterns prep/core prep operation as required or requested by a supervisor. The operator must use correct tools and supplies to remove defects from patterns, preparing them for assembly, and have the correct practice pulled up on the Mercury screen while performing the operation. Meeting established quality and time requirements following standard work is essential. The role includes inspecting wax patterns to ensure they are properly cleaned and ready for assembly, checking sketches and instructions in engineering practices to determine the required procedure for setting up and assembling wax patterns into molds or clusters, and utilizing tools such as hot irons, water welders, and scalpels as needed. The operator will assemble wax, plastic, and ceramic core components, and assemble wax molds by attaching patterns, gating, sprues, bleeders, pour cups, chem slugs, and other components as shown in engineering practice. Use of stick-tight and other adhesive substances is required when attaching parts. The operator must advise the supervisor or group leader of any difficulties encountered and repair imperfections as advised. Completing all necessary paperwork, including signing off the part router, and transferring completed patterns to the next operation according to the router are also key responsibilities. Informing the supervisor, team leader, or cell support when work is complete is required.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent life experience and one or more years related experience or training in similar field or work requiring similar skills.
Ability to read and understand documents, such as safety rules, work instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to record information on a daily basis.
Ability to speak and listen effectively to follow instructions.
Ability to write, speak and understand verbal and written instructions.
Ability to add and subtract two and three digit numbers in order to perform simple multiplication and division.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Regularly required to stand, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Regularly required to walk.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Assembles wax mold attaching patterns, gating, sprues, bleeders, pour cup, chem slug and other components of wax mold as shown in engineering practice.
Uses stick-tight and other adhesive substances as required when attaching parts together during assembly process.
Advises supervisor or group leader of any difficulties encountered during assembly or cleaning process.
Repairs imperfections as advised by supervisor, team leader or wax inspector.
Completes all necessary paperwork to include signing off the part router.
Transfers completed patterns to the next operation according to the router.
Informs supervisor, team leader or cell support when work is complete.
