About The Position

The Operators main function is to produce quality products in a timely manner. Operators are required to have good verbal and written communication skills. Some Operators may work in high performance team environment while others work independently to obtain company goal. Operators are expected to follow one-piece flow except at designated work centers. They are also required to read and follow standard work. Periodically Operators are required to attend additional job training to ensure continuous improvement. A member of the work team with cross-functional responsibilities which provides support to the assigned team assuring quality product and daily schedule attainment. This position assures standard work is in place and followed. Serves as a facilitator to the work team in areas of problem solving issue resolution, continuous improvement, and training in support of plant focus areas. Ensures a safe work environment is maintained at all times. This position will be accessible to the production floor 95% of the time. Must be willing to learn all jobs on team to cover for absences or relief. Understands safety policies and practices that apply to assigned area and performs daily audits. Can locate the Hazcom labels, LOTO procedures, and perform injury/incident reporting. Supports in implementation the Masco Production System. Monitors and records the efficiency, downtime and scrap on an hourly basis for the assigned area. Accurately tracks and measures defects and performs a defect analysis. Trains and oversees training of team members according to standardized work and job instruction methods. Assist Group Leader in maintaining team training records. Coordinate shift production reporting, scheduling, and monitoring of kanban systems. Verifies attendance and notifies Group Leader with recommendations on how to fill vacancies. Provides first response to line problems. Documents problems and resolves when possible and follows up with the appropriate resource groups to ensure problems are corrected. Perform routine quality checks in assigned area. Perform minor preventative maintenance, minor machine adjustments, and create work orders for quick maintenance. Develops job breakdown and standardized work processes with team and audits standard work. Facilitates teams through the problem solving process using PDCA and documents those efforts with an A3. Facilitates efficient meetings to foster continuous improvement culture. Monitors and maintains 5S in the workplace. Provides daily update on all relevant work to Group Leader. Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must support safety policies and practices that apply to assigned area
  • Strong math skills and ability to calculate averages, ratios, and percents
  • Ability to learn and perform all team jobs
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with people
  • Ability to obtain a fork truck license
  • Ability to learn basic PM and minor machine adjustment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Must be self motivated and have the ability to interpret data for corrective actions
  • Demonstrated positive performance record
  • Strong aptitude to effectively train others
  • Flexible with work schedule
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
