About The Position

Boeing is seeking aspiring mechanics to join our Assembly Mechanic Apprenticeship program in St. Louis. This program is designed to equip new teammates with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Boeing Defense, Space & Security is delivering advanced solutions to help warfighters solve their toughest challenges. Employees will participate in a full-time, company-sponsored on-the-job training program. The program helps learners develop skills for a fast-paced manufacturing environment through structured assignments leading to course completion within a skill area. Applicants will be considered for one of three pathways: Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical. The Structural cohort is a 15-week program focusing on interpreting drawings, following work instructions, sealant application, fastener layout, drilling, countersinking, fastener installation/removal, trimming, and identifying tools/parts/equipment for defect-free work and structural integrity. The Electrical cohort is a 15-week program focusing on interpreting drawings, following work instructions, wire bundle routing, stripping, terminating, splicing, solder sleeves, connector build-up, bundle dressing, Fiber optics, RF cable handling, and bonding/grounding. The Mechanical cohort is a 15-week program focusing on interpreting drawings, following work instructions, torquing, installing safe tying devices, rigging, fluid line installation, and component installation. The Boeing Technical Apprenticeship Program (BTAP) is a Department of Labor (DOL) registered apprenticeship, offering formal learning, on-the-job experiences, and mentorship, leading to a nationally-recognized DOL credential. Great technical apprentices possess a passion for learning, a curious mindset, problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and collaboratively, self-motivation, initiative, persistence, strong interpersonal skills, and confident communication. As an apprentice, you will join a cohort and learn Boeing, aerospace, and core assembly fundamentals, with support from managers and mentors. You will initially complete a rigorous, accelerated learning program for foundational manufacturing and assembly skills. Successful candidates may convert to a union-represented Assembly Mechanic position with further training and on-the-job learning.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Basic computer experience and competency
  • Able to work any shift based on the needs of the operation
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using basic precision measuring tools
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities
