About The Position

The Assembly Lead serves as a liaison between production employees and the Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing all duties in the assigned production area and for directing and coordinating the activities of others within the area. The Lead is the “hands-on” part of the team, occupying a direct labor position while assisting with workflow coordination, troubleshooting with operators, and leading by example. This position provides leadership to employees and ensures they have the tools they need to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment that embraces continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the “Go-To” person for the area, product line, or function, acting as a liaison with and providing feedback to the Supervisor and all other support teams with respect to the operation of their Team.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the Supervisor.
  • Conducts multiple daily production walks throughout the day to optimize production flow and efficiencies. May adjust workflow priorities as needed and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Engages the team in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects across Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Engages production floor employees in problem resolution to improve production issues/efficiencies utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques as needed.
  • Participates in monthly site safety review to understand problem areas and establish plans to improve overall safety record and reduce incidents.
  • Monitors and updates the Production schedule; uses the schedule to prioritize workload in the working area.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs, including safety, quality, and production. Identifies training gaps and recommends developing the necessary training plans.
  • Participates in training new employees and retraining current departmental employees on processes and methods as required.
  • Communicates any procedural changes or quality issues to their Team.
  • Documents work completed. Contributes to the upkeep and updating of required paperwork, including procedures, records, logs, documents, and manuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
