About The Position

The Production Leader is responsible for ensuring the entire production value stream process is followed. They plan, organize, and recommend strategies. This role involves coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to the production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work Mon-Thu 4:15pm-2:45am.
  • Experience in production leadership.
  • Knowledge of production value stream processes.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and recommend strategies.
  • Skill in coordinating and expediting work and material flow.
  • Proficiency in reviewing production schedules and conferring with supervisors.
  • Ability to compile reports on progress, inventory, costs, and production problems.
  • Understanding of safety requirements, machine guarding, door locks, and PPE.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and job clocking procedures.
  • Experience with work center dashboards for performance review.
  • Knowledge of QMS requirements, first part buy-off, and scrap reporting.
  • Troubleshooting and technical issue resolution skills.
  • Experience with Andon light systems.
  • Effective communication skills for shift change and detailed note-taking.
  • Experience with 6S requirements.
  • Ability to lead huddles/stand-downs.
  • Familiarity with training plans and cross-training.
  • Understanding of COV certification requirements.
  • Ability to promote continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Experience with lean/kaizen activities.
  • Ability to complete leadership readings.
  • Assistance with root cause corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees are present and at work stations on time.
  • Check for all safety requirements, machine guarding, door lock, PPE etc.
  • Ensure team members are clocked to current job per the dispatch.
  • Ensure team members are clocked to a job at all times.
  • Focus on “start on time” objective in each work center.
  • Review team performance daily at work center dashboards, safety, quality, schedule.
  • Monitor QMS requirements, first part buy-off, run a part check a part, scrap CTH sheets.
  • Assist operators with trouble shooting and technical issues.
  • Utilize Andon light system to signal technical support personnel only when trouble shooting has not resolved the issue.
  • Lead/drive effective communication each day at shift change (4:15 tie-in) and utilize schedule/output to leave detailed notes.
  • Ensure all daily and weekly 6S requirements have been completed.
  • Lead weekly huddles/stand-downs to discuss team performance.
  • Follow-up with team members to ensure all training classes have been completed.
  • Follow through with the area training plan when new operators are assigned.
  • Ensure team members are cross trained to eliminate single point of failure in area.
  • Assist employees with critical elements required to obtain COV certification.
  • Promote continuous improvement suggestions from team members, setup/runtime improvements, quality improvements, cost savings ideas.
  • Participate and lead lean/kaizen activities in production.
  • Complete leadership readings as required.
  • Assist supervisors in root cause corrective action.
