About The Position

The Assembly Engineer is responsible for the coordination and management of new program/product quotes and launches for the Assembly operation. This role involves designing and supervising the installation of assembly processes and equipment, and assisting manufacturing in continuous process improvements and problem-solving. The engineer will develop manufacturing processes, establish production floor layouts, coordinate department responsibilities for new program launches, and represent the company at assembly plants and vendor shops. Additionally, the role requires investigating process problems, re-evaluating assembly processes for improvements, preparing Engineering Change documents, and mentoring entry-level engineers.

Requirements

Must be competent in and utilize AIAG "Core Tools"
Utilize effective communication skills.
Work various shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
Past work in manufacturing operations in an engineering or technical capacity.
Must be computer skilled in a variety of common business and engineering applications and able to learn new applications quickly.
Competent in use of Auto-Cad.
Must be able to provide statements of work and effectively communicate with and manage equipment suppliers.
Must have the ability to be well presented to the customer and maintain composure in challenging situations.
Able to assume supervisory duties and be effective at performing tasks through others.
B.S. degree in engineering discipline (required).
Experience in the Automotive Industry or another assembly related field (preferred).

Nice To Haves

Preferred 2 years of assembly manufacturing engineering experience.
Preferred experience with robotics.
In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.

Responsibilities

Responsible for coordination and management of new program/product quotes and launches for Assembly operation.
Designs and supervises installation of assembly process and equipment.
Assists manufacturing in continuous process improvements and problem solving.
Develop manufacturing processes for new product/programs (Specify assembly equipment, establish process flow, estimate labor requirements, develop work instructions, design and implement error proofing, etc.).
Prepare quote and other customer required submissions.
Establish production floor layouts that promote lean manufacturing concepts and effective usage of space.
Coordinate department responsibilities for launches of new programs.
Provide leadership and audit the process for manufacturing effectiveness and quality.
Represent Nascote at assembly plants for problem evaluation or during launches.
Represent Nascote at vendor shops to validate machines prior to delivery.
Investigate process problems using the 8D or similar problem-solving methodologies.
Lead teams to effective solutions.
Periodically re-evaluate assembly processes for improved throughput, labor utilization, and quality.
Prepare Engineering Change documents and follow up as the changes move through departments.
Make safety a top priority in work behavior and assembly line design.
Mentor entry level Assembly Manufacturing Engineers.
