Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school or equivalent Associates Degree; or 3 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of goods
  • Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of engine control systems, design, assembly and function
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) and operate scanning devices for system communications
  • Knowledge of MTU products, policies and procedures
  • Experience in engine control systems, design, function and assembly, including marine applications

Responsibilities

  • Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists, and verify parts clearances
  • Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to form assemblies or subassemblies
  • Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plan assembly or building operations
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
  • Maintain and lubricate parts and components
  • Assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes
  • Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications
  • Keep Team Leader abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Identify and reduce non-value-added work
  • Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in assembly and other production related areas
