About The Position

The Assembler is responsible for grinding, welding, fitting, and assembling all steel, iron, and manganese rail points for track work related products according to engineering specifications.

Requirements

  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blue prints, rulers and tape measures
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals

Nice To Haves

  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • Welding, Forklift and Crane certification preferred
  • Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate hydraulic benders or presses to straighten manganese castings
  • Safely operate jib and overhead cranes
  • Operate grinder, welder and power tools
  • Proficiently assemble all switch points built at plant
  • Safely operate powered industrial truck
  • Work with little supervision
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
  • Perform routine cleanup of work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
