About The Position

Hydrasearch, a proud affiliate of The Dixon Group is looking for an Assembler to join our team in Stevensville, MD! In this role, you will be building a variety of critical components—including metal fittings, valves, couplings, and hose assemblies—for our customers, which include most of the major shipyards in the United States. You will work in a collaborative shop environment where daily tasks vary and cross-training is essential. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School equivalent required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to do basic math, including computing ratios and percentages.
  • Strong communication skills (ability to ask questions and listen actively).
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skills.
  • Capable of working with minimal instruction once proficient.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Work well within a fast-paced, collaborative shop environment.
  • Steel-toe shoes are required on the shop floor.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of prior assembly work (e.g., manufacturing, mechanical, or retail assembly) is preferred but not required.
  • Experience reading blueprints is a major plus!

Responsibilities

  • Assemble company product lines (hoses, valves, and couplings) following standard operating procedures (SOPs), shop orders, and work instructions.
  • Safely operate power tools and machinery, including hand drills, grinders, drill presses, and hydraulic presses.
  • Grind rudders and other hardware for secondary machining operations. Use bead blast equipment to ensure finished goods meet high-quality standards. Mark parts using pin stampers, laser marking, etc.
  • Transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility using hand trucks, dollies, and shop carts.
  • Consistently and accurately complete job paperwork in the computer system to maintain part counts and traceability.
  • Participate in ongoing on-the-job training to achieve the cross-training needs of the department.
