This position supports both our laboratory and production areas, depending on daily priorities. You’ll help with calibrating test blocks and processing customer orders. Full training will be provided and no prior experience with our equipment is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Comfortable using a computer for Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions and quality standards.
  • Willing to learn precision tools, lapping, grinding, and polishing techniques (training provided).
  • Able to work well with others in a team setting.
  • Capable of lifting packages up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Use a computer for data entry and basic tasks every day.
  • Operate lab equipment (training provided) to calibrate test blocks and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Perform lapping, grinding, or polishing of test blocks and samples to meet quality standards.
  • Set up and run surface grinders to create smooth, flat, or contoured surfaces on metal and other materials.
  • Mount workpieces, select grinding wheels, and manage machine speeds, feeds, and coolant flow.
  • Dress wheels, operate machines, and control the grinding process to meet specifications.
  • Package and stock finished test blocks following clear instructions.
  • Perform visual inspections and use precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators) to verify dimensions and surface finish.
  • Identify and report any quality issues to your supervisor.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and keep machines clean.
  • Assist with other production tasks as needed.
