About The Position

The function of an assembler is to add value to a single battery by attaching terminals or wires, weld multiple batteries together to increase the battery voltage/amperage or add customer required packaging to the product. Most of these processes are manual, semiautomated or have minor automation. In most cases, jigs or fixtures are used to control the parameters of the overall component dimensions compared to product specifications. An assembler should have the capability to read and interpret process information; and understand the impact their actions have on the quality objective.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six (6) months of related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure work instructions.
  • Ability to write complete daily written reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of organization.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read, to understand, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
  • Ability to see color.

Responsibilities

  • Carefully positions parts according to the work instructions of the process.
  • Enclose parts together in the work jigs according to the work instructions.
  • Checks for correct orientation of the parts assembled.
  • Welds parts together at the appropriate joints as described in the work instructions if applicable.
  • Applies solder to the appropriate place if applicable.
  • Applies different types of tape as required in fixed locations as may be required in the work instructions.
  • Installs electrical connectors in a fixed location as required in the work instructions.
  • Runs automatic equipment as required to do things like weld parts, solder parts, and glue parts.
  • Test parts using approved testing equipment and performs visual inspections at each workstation.
  • Polish and change welding electrodes as required.
  • Reads and interprets date codes.
  • Assist machine operators and machine keepers with maintenance and/or machine setup as requested.
