About The Position

Performs precision mechanical assembly work on a production basis, typically of high complexity and requiring fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances. Assembles fabricated parts at a floor station using various techniques and performs integrated next-level assembly work on machined/fabricated aerospace parts. Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications, ensuring conformance to quality policies and customer specifications. Maintains safe work habits and environment.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area of precision mechanical assembly experience.
  • Working knowledge of shop math and geometry.
  • Standard safety training.
  • Ability to drive and operate a forklift.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to meet certain certifications in field.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and documents for machined parts and assemblies highly desired.
  • Preferred experience in Riveting, Cold Working, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets and including but not limited to Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies.
  • Preferred knowledgeable in the use of various power-hand tools, drills, jigs, templates, boring and bucking equipment.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with others with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Performs precision mechanical assembly work of high complexity.
  • Performs integrated next-level assembly work on machined/fabricated aerospace parts.
  • Assembles fabricated parts using riveting, cold working, nut plates, bearings, bushings, cold bonding, fabricating and installing shims, sealing, bucking/squeezing rivets, and grounding blocks.
  • Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
  • Ensures conformance to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensures safe work habits and environment.
  • Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to instructions, drawings, or diagrams.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
  • Positions parts in specified relationship to each other under extremely close tolerance conditions.
  • Fastens parts together using an Orbital Riveting machine.
  • Loads and unloads previously setup machines such as arbor presses, drill presses, and milling machines.
  • Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary.
  • Trouble-shoots and reworks production items that do not meet specifications.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
