About The Position

McWane Plant and Industrial in Exeter, CA, is seeking an experienced Assembler to join our fabrication and machining operation. This position is responsible for the assembly of small and large valves. This includes but is not limited to the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and components, as well as testing, loading/ unloading, and palletizing finished products.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Attention to detail
  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements
  • Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as wearing the appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and mask)
  • Must be able to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes
  • Must have the ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Possible overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color
  • Must have the ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a valve assembler or similar in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members
  • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Wears appropriate PPE, including fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection
  • Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area and maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles
  • Prepares work by studying assembly instructions and parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
  • Positions parts and components by using work instructions
  • Verifies specifications by testing products and visually inspecting quality
  • Assembles products using hand tools and other equipment
  • Resolves verifiable assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources if needed
  • Palletizes and gets product ready for shipment once complete
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing production requirements as needed
  • Regular full-time attendance is an essential function of the job
  • All duties as assigned
