We are looking for an Assembler to join our tam in Chicago heights, Illinois.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED preferred but not required.
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred (will be certified in house if needed).
  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blueprints, rulers and tape measures.
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Grinding, welding, fitting, and assembling all steel, iron, and manganese rail points for track work related products to the specifications provided by engineering.
  • Assembling all steel, iron, manganese components and switch points for track work related products to the specifications provided by our customers and engineering.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
  • Build specialty track assemblies for the railroads.
  • Assemble various turnout components such as switch points, frogs, plates, etc.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools, ie: sledgehammers, pry bars, special track installation tools.
  • Able to work with a team environment with little supervision.
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
  • Routine cleanup of work area.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
