About The Position

This role involves performing assembly work to manufacture products efficiently and to quality standards. The position requires validating materials, reviewing work instructions, building products to specifications, and adhering to all quality, safety, and work regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). There are multiple levels (Assembler I, II, and III) with increasing complexity in assembly tasks, training responsibilities, and problem-solving involvement.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment (Assembler I).
  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or 1 year of complex assembly or related experience (Assembler II).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Assembler III).
  • 2 years of complex assembly or related experience (Assembler III).
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions, follows through on commitments.
  • Ability to understand and execute basic standard assembly procedures, interpret basic visual diagrams, and use basic hand tools (Assembler I).
  • Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math functions (Assembler I).
  • Ability to understand and execute basic standard procedures, interpret basic visual diagrams, and use advanced tooling (Assembler II).
  • Ability to perform more complex assembly skills (Assembler II).
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (such as using electronic work instructions) (Assembler II).
  • Understands principles of basic machine operations (Assembler II).
  • Ability to understand and execute advanced standard procedures, interpret basic visual diagrams, and use advanced tooling (Assembler III).
  • Ability to problem solve with minimal guidance (Assembler III).
  • Consistently follows through on team commitments, communicates, and demonstrates accountability (Assembler III).

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience, including knowledge of manufacturing processes or related experience (Assembler I).
  • Experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Assembler II).
  • Experience in root cause problem solving (5 Why, 8D, PDCA, etc.) (Assembler III).
  • Experience effectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work (Assembler III).
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics) (Assembler III).

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to complex assembly work to manufacture products in a cost-effective and timely manner while fulfilling quality standards.
  • Validate material prior to beginning assembly.
  • Review work instructions.
  • Build product per specifications and within tolerances.
  • Complete all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations, including wearing all appropriate PPE.
  • Train other employees (Assembler II and III).
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and problem-solving production-related concerns (Assembler III).
  • Use work instructions, drawings, schematics, and electronic assembly equipment to perform assembly while complying with safe and effective operation standards.
  • Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisor (Assembler II).
  • Use initiative and judgment to lead problem-solving and implement appropriate countermeasures (Assembler III).
  • Cross-train in multiple assembly areas and flex to other similar departments based on business necessity.
  • Provide training frequently to new and current employees on work instructions/standard work.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the products assembled and their impact on the business.
  • Continuously learn principles, practices, and processes of the job as changes require.
  • Suggest and implement improvements of existing equipment, designs, and/or processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity (Assembler II/III).
  • Follow established procedures, processes, or policies.
  • Demonstrate good attendance, quality, attention to detail, and adherence to all safety policies.
  • Participate in team meetings to exchange job-related information.
  • Contribute to improving processes, lead times, through-put, and cost (Assembler II).
  • Solve problems independently within designated authority level (Assembler III).
