About The Position

Westport in Cambridge, Ont. designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This product mix includes Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV’s, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles. The Assembler role is responsible for assembling hydrogen components, performing quality checks, and completing end-of-line testing to ensure products meet required standards. The position focuses on supporting daily production activities, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and contributing to efficient manufacturing operations. We are currently hiring for multiple shifts, including morning (AM), afternoon, and night shifts, to support our growing production needs. This is a 6-month contract role.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools used in the assembly process.
• Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics considered a strong asset.
• Computer experience with Microsoft products and ERP systems considered an asset.
• Experience with inspecting parts considered an asset.
• First Aid certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assemble components
• Conduct end of line testing of components
• Package assemblies into shipping cartons
• Conduct quality inspections on components when necessary
• Other duties as required to support the team
• Promote Westport’s H&S culture following all Environmental , and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
• Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
• Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
