About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking an Assembler - Panelboards. The hourly rate for this position is $25.18 per hour. This role involves performing all required duties to accumulate, fabricate, machine, assemble, fit, wire, finish, crate and transport materials and component parts necessary to build switch racks to individual customer specifications. The assembler will analyze job requirements from blueprints and schematics, work with Q.C. and customers during final inspection, and pick parts and expedite materials as necessary to meet production schedules. Responsibilities include assembling and wiring various electrical devices, fastening assemblies to frames, working from ladders and scaffolding, determining and installing conduit, and analyzing wiring diagrams to pull, cut, strip, and connect wires according to specifications. The role also requires operating various machines and tools for construction, modification, or repair, using gauges and electrical testing equipment to ensure quality, and building shipping crates. Additionally, the assembler will assist with reordering supplies, maintain a clean work area, perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, and follow safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one (1) years’ previous work experience in panel wiring
  • A minimum of six (6) months previous experience in basic metal fabrications

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required duties to accumulate, fabricate, machine, assemble, fit, wire, finish, crate and transport the materials and component parts necessary to build switch racks to individual customer specifications.
  • Analyze job requirements from blueprints and schematics; occasionally uses Work Flow for reference purposes as required, note discrepancies, and refer problems or revisions to supervision.
  • Work with Q.C. and customers during final inspection of products.
  • Pick parts and expedite materials as necessary to meet production schedule.
  • May use prescribed chemicals and steam cleaner to prepare rack surface and other electrical devices on occasion as required.
  • Assemble and wire EBM’s, EPC’s, junction boxes and other electrical devices as required.
  • Fasten assemblies to frames.
  • Work from ladders and scaffolding as necessary to construct racks.
  • Determine proper size and length of conduit; cut and thread pipe.
  • Fabricate, fit and install pipe to previously installed units.
  • Analyze wiring diagrams; pull cable, cut, strip, heat shrink, label and connect wires according to specifications.
  • Identify missed operations or faulty parts.
  • Lay out work.
  • Set up and operate hand, pneumatic and power tools, thermite weld, drilling, milling, turning, grinding, cutting, and tapping machines to construct, modify or repair components or mounting frame as necessary.
  • Use a variety of fixed and adjustable gauges and electrical testing equipment to prove out wiring and mechanical functions of unit and to insure quality.
  • Build shipping crates and skids around racks.
  • Exercise care in rigging and operating overhead crane, or fork truck to load or unload racks to and from trucks.
  • Facilitate reorder of sundry supplies in both rack and general assembly areas of Bldg.#33.
  • Perform a variety of similar or associated duties, including clerical, as required or directed.
  • Refer all unusual conditions to proper supervision.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities such as minor maintenance that includes cleaning, inspection, minor lubrication and tightening loose bolts.
