About The Position

Assemble variety of basic blind styles within established standards for quality and timeliness. This role involves performing pre-assembly tasks, initial hand assembly, inspection, adjustment, and completion of the assembly process for blinds. The position also includes testing the blinds for quality and performance, preparing them for packaging and shipment, and completing related paperwork. Additionally, the role may involve working with Engineering on new product testing, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, performing minor maintenance on equipment, and interacting with various departments for repairs and development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-assembly responsibilities such as cutting fabric or headrail, picking parts, final bagging and labeling, and weighing fabric or rail and inputting data.
  • Select blinds off cart, following set procedures and established priority guidelines.
  • Perform initial hand assembly of blinds to allow for hanging, inspection, and adjustment.
  • Hang blinds and perform initial inspection, checking parts fit, adjusting motor (if applicable), and adjusting clutch.
  • Make necessary adjustments and re-inspect.
  • Complete assembly process by adding end caps, adjusting snap, and setting stops.
  • Perform testing of blinds, including quality tests, visual tests, and function/performance tests.
  • Interact with quality specialists to ensure quality guidelines are met.
  • Prepare blinds for packaging and shipment.
  • Complete productivity paperwork related to blind assembly.
  • Work with Engineering on testing of new products.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow established procedures to maintain work environment in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Interact with Toolroom and Maintenance Departments on equipment and tool repair and development of new equipment and tools.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend regularly-scheduled safety meetings.
  • Attend daily huddles and other meetings to ensure smooth flow of communication.
  • Use project plan and project schedule methodology.
  • Clearly define and utilize processes in daily work.
  • Understand SWF team structure, roles and responsibilities.
  • Integrate process methodology into daily work (MPI, QAT, 6S, 6D, Q@S etc).
  • Look for innovative ways to streamline work processes across the division and involve stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps using tools such as Baldridge criteria, WI Forward Award criteria, GPTW, IDP etc.
  • Establish forums to share best practices.
  • Use department and company scorecard and other metrics.
  • Measure own work to plan and report out at a micro and macro level.
