About The Position

The Pump Assembler 2nd Shift is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely mechanical assembly of pumps and pump components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality standards. This role works Monday through Friday on second shift and is eligible for a shift differential paid in addition to the base hourly rate. Assemblers are expected to support production targets, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts, cherry pickers/order pickers, and reach trucks) to move parts, sub-assemblies, and finished pumps throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 – 3 years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment (pump, rotating equipment, or industrial equipment assembly strongly preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings and written work instructions.
  • Proficient with standard hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision on second shift.
  • Willingness and ability to work scheduled overtime, including occasional Saturdays, based on production demand.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience assembling centrifugal, multistage, or vertical turbine pumps.
  • Familiarity with hydrostatic testing, run testing, and basic vibration/balance concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints and work instructions to assemble pumps, sub-assemblies, and components to specification.
  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks including fitting, alignment, torquing to specification, installation of seals, bearings, couplings, impellers, and related pump hardware.
  • Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, presses, lifting devices, and measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges) accurately and safely.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks forklifts, cherry pickers (order pickers), and reach trucks to stage materials, retrieve components from racking, and move finished assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate production records and time tracking through IFS systems.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Maintain 5S standards and a clean, organized work area at the end of each shift.
  • Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, leads, and counterparts to support shift-to-shift handoffs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train on additional assembly cells as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Lead.
