About The Position

The Assembler II will perform a variety of tasks to produce quality products, meet or exceed productivity goals, and operate machinery correctly. This role involves performing essential duties such as assembling, gluing, cutting, printing, folding, pressing, inflating, sealing, labeling, and packing foam products, while consistently meeting or exceeding productivity goals. The Assembler II is responsible for verifying product quality and conformity to standards, organizing raw materials, minimizing scrap, and correctly setting up and operating production machinery. A key aspect of this role is being fully cross-trained in at least 2-3 jobs within the mattress department, understanding production machinery to troubleshoot errors, and possessing a basic understanding of lean manufacturing procedures and 5S. Accurate completion and maintenance of paperwork, printing and changing labels using UDI, and performing more complex job functions on the production floor are also required. The Assembler II must notify supervision or maintenance of machinery problems, maintain a clean work area, support the Quality Policy and System, and follow safety rules. Participation in quarterly inventory and performing basic computer functions are also part of the responsibilities. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and listening skills required.
  • 1 - 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • High school degree or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform the following necessary tasks to produce foam products: assemble, glue, cut, print, fold, press, inflate, seal, label, and pack, consistently meeting or exceeding productivity goals.
  • Verify that the product is being made properly and conforms to quality standards.
  • Capable of locating and organizing raw materials for production.
  • Minimize scrap through proper and careful handling of materials.
  • Correctly set up and operate production machinery according to instructions.
  • Must be fully cross trained in 2-3 jobs within the mattress department.
  • Understand the operation of production machinery to troubleshoot machine errors.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing procedures and 5S.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
  • Understand how to print and change labels using UDI.
  • Performs the more complex job functions on the production floor.
  • Notify supervision or maintenance of machinery problems or breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Support Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures through the supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System.
  • Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment, and facilities. Report unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Participate in quarterly inventory as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Perform basic computer functions.
