About The Position

The Assembler - Valves (5:30am - 2:00pm) works under close supervision performing assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions. The role involves preparing components, testing finished assemblies, operating specific machinery, and handling hazardous chemicals safely. The position also requires participation in team meetings, adherence to safety procedures, and cross-training within the cell. Support for Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives, including 5S and Standard Work, is expected. Flexibility to work overtime is necessary. A significant part of the role involves operating a microscope for up to 8 hours a day.

Requirements

  • 1-5+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents) of the English language
  • Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
  • Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required
  • Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity
  • Adept hand eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness
  • Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in a high-volume setting
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned assembly tasks subassemblies, or completed assemblies
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components
  • Test finished assemblies
  • Operate assigned equipment and machinery (i.e.-Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder, X-Ray machines)
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in process
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy
  • Cross-train to work on at least one process within the cell
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, Standard Work, and other initiatives as they arise
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
  • Operation of a Microscope (Can be up to 8 hours a day)
  • Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
  • May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies
