About The Position

Assembler II at MSP is the second level of assemblers. This job builds assigned instruments or components and requires a high mechanical aptitude, the ability to build from assembly drawing, and the ability to work on multiple electro-mechanical assemblies simultaneously. This is not an assembly line position and requires candidates to be flexible to do different tasks daily. Under general supervision, the Assembler II may be assigned to perform electro-mechanical assembly, sensor mounting, or building new instrument from specifications. They must be willing and able to perform a variety of duties (rotate) within the assigned production areas (cells) as required. Employees will be required to complete specific objectives and/or gain additional skills before moving to an Assembler II position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of three year’s experience in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Some mechanical and electro-mechanical experience
  • Some light soldiering experience required (no microscope)

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills including the ability to check reports and record information. Entry level SAP.
  • Ability to train others on standard procedures and assemblies.
  • Proficient at addition, subtraction, multiplication, and making measurements.
  • Proficient at reading instructions and procedures.
  • General working knowledge of measuring devices and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow direction of blue prints.
  • Under general supervision, performs assembly operations at a work station or bench using various hand tools.
  • Test/FAT product using fixtures, multimeters, and flowmeters.
  • Pick and identify parts from stockroom by completing transactions within SAP.
  • May be required to complete some hand soldering, and/ or do rework and repairs on standard assemblies.
  • Perform calibrations and variables testing requiring judgment to assure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs with assistance.
  • Perform standard and non-standard setups exercising judgment in adjusting and documenting changes.
  • Verify part quality.
  • Use keyboard and computer terminal to enter data into the SAP screens as required.
  • Actively participate in process improvement and recommend changes to manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform daily organization and cleanup of work area.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Build sub-assemblies which require multiple people working on it or build a new instrument from the beginning to end.
  • Other duties as assigned.
